Shoki Mmola is born Reshoketswe Portia Mmola, in August of 1977. growing up she was and still is curious about life. Performance Arts did not come as an accident, this household talent has always been interested in ‘all things LIFE’, The….why? When? what if? is it possible to..? imagine if the situation was to be different, what would be the outcome then…? it is this curiosity that brings all her characters to life.

Although Shoki Mmola started acting on television productions at the age of 16, the acting bug caught up with her at primary school level at the age of 9. Shoki Mmola has acted, professionally, in multiple productions over the past three decades, Her first was a
television production being Kgatelopele as Sarah Taunyane. She went on to act on an adaptation of McBeth called The Rain Queen, her character that mirrored Lady McBeth – ( Grace Lerothodi) displayed the talented and seasoned actress that is Shoki Mmola.

Shoki Mmola is greatly remembered for her character on a local soapy called Skeem Saam, which airs on SABC1, she played Celia Kunutu for a decade. Her Theatre performances have been celebrated on the South African Stages, and the recent one being RUINED by Lynn Nottage, at the market theatre, with Shoki Mmola playing Salima in 2022.Netflix has also become a home for Shoki Mmola as her work is streaming on How To Ruin Love ( Seasons 1 and 2 ) season 2 which starts airing in December 2025 on Netflix as Doreen.

Aside from acting, Shoki Mmola is an avid athlete. She enrolled for ice skating in 2021, got to the beta phase, although she incorporates ice skating, roller skating and weight lifting in her journey to keeping fit and healthy. If she is not at the gym, you will find Shoki dancing or singing along to her favourite music, as she writes the stories she would like to tell. Shoki Mmola is an immaculate writer, we are yet to see her as a show runner for some of her stories.
